Central President(Acting) of Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation Professor Harunur Rashid Khan said that the entire country has been affected by severe flood. Millions of flood affected people have been leaving their homes and living in shelters. There is an acute shortage of adequate food, medicine and essentials for them. On behalf of Sramik Kalyan Federation, we are trying to stand by people with our limited capacity. At the same time, Sramik Kalyan Federation has called upon the financially capable people of the country to stand by the flood affected people. Flood waters may recede very quickly. But flood affected people have to bear several problems. The concerned authorities including the government should take immediate steps to deal with the post-flood disaster.
He said these things today while distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people in several parts of Kalmakanda Upazila of Netrakona district under the initiative of Sramik Kalyan Federation of Netrakona district. The central office secretary of the federation, Nurul Amin, the Mymensingh district president of the federation, Mahbubur Rashid Faraji, Netrakona district advisor Masum Mostafa, Netrakona district president Kamal Uddin, vice president Shajahan Kabir, general secretary Shafiqul Islam, Kalmanda upazila president Zahirul Islam, and others were present.
Professor Harunur Rashid said that flooding has become a regular disaster in our country. In every year’s flood, a huge amount of damage is done to the country. Developed countries in the present world are reducing the amount of degradation and damage by controlling natural disasters with the help of various technologies. It is only a matter of time to adopt the same measures in our country. Those who are in power today should be proactive in this regard.
