A N M Shamsul Islam is a politician and a labor leader of Bangladesh. He previously served as a member of parliament. He won the Chittagong-14 (Lohagara-Satkania) Constituency seat in the ninth national election of 2008 and was subsequently elected as a member of parliament.
Personal life:
In March 1, 1957, Shamsul Islam was born into a noble Muslim family in the Bardona village of the Satkania police station in the Chittagong region. His mother’s name was Hafeza Amena Khatun, and his father was Mohammad Ali Mia. His father was a government service-holder.
Political activity:
Since the student days Shamsul Islam got interested in politics. He served as the head of student politics of Chittagong University from 1981 to 1985. From 1985 to 1987, he lead the student politics across the country. From 1986 through 1990, he was particularly active in the anti-dictatorship campaign. He ran for Vice President (VP) in the 1988 election of the Dhaka University Central Student Council (DACSU).
In 1989, Shamsul Islam made his political debut in the mainstream of the nation. Between the day of 1990 to 2016, he held numerous leadership positions in Chittagong city. He was taken into custody in 1999 and held in prison for a very long time.
On behalf of the opposition political alliance, he was named Joint Convener of Chittagong Metropolis in 2000. Nominated to the Chittagong Development Authority in 2001 (CDA). A N M Shamsul Islam, entered Bangladesh’s national politics in 2017.
Shamsul Islam participated in the 9th National Parliamentary Elections, which took place on December 29, 2008, and was selected for Chittagong-14 as a member of the legislature (Satkania-Lohagara). He was chosen to serve on the Ministry of Planning as Parliamentary Standing Committee.
In the national parliamentary election scheduled for December 30, 2018, he was nominated as a candidate for the Chittagong-15 (Satkania-Lohagara) constituency and took part in the election.
In 2017, he was selected as central president of Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation.
Imprisonment: He spent four consecutive periods in prison.
